Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi has directed to set up a complaint cell in the ministry to resolve the problems of the people on immediate basis.
He said this after assuming the charge of the Ministry of Water and Power here on Friday and presiding over the maiden meeting of all the officers of the ministry.
The minister directed that the cell should directly work under his supervision and the people would be asked to send their complaints through E-mails, fax or in writing. He said that all steps would be taken to facilitate the industrial, agriculture and commercial and particularly the domestic consumers.
Jatoi said: "The country is facing various challenges, like water shortage, electricity problems and load-shedding" and stressed the need for taking good decision in the larger interest of the country.
He directed the officers of the ministry to work with dedication to enhance the performance of the water and power sector.
Earlier, secretary Ashfaq Ahmed briefed the minister about the working of the ministry and its attached departments. Special secretary Riaz Ahmed, chairman Irsa also briefed the minister on water issues.
Later, chairman Wapda Tariq Hameed and managing director KESC Brigadier Saddozai and chairman PPIB Zafar Ali Khan called on the minister.
