The median overnight interbank rate on the Egyptian pound was eight percent on Sunday, unchanged from Thursday's level, in the middle of a period for calculating bank reserves, dealers said.
Six of the 12 banks contacted by Reuters said they had dealt in overnight money, at rates of between 6-1/4 and 8-1/2 percent, compared to Thursday's range of 6-1/2 and eight percent.
Three banks dealt over one week between eight and nine percent, compared to 8-1/2 and nine percent on Thursday.
The overnight CAIBOR rate rose to 7.4910 percent from 7.2329 percent on Thursday while one-week CAIBOR climbed to 8.2857 percent from 8.0833 percent.
On the official foreign exchange market, the pound last traded against the dollar at a midrate of 6.23 pounds in banks and 6.22 in exchange houses, little changed on Thursday's weighted average midrate of 6.22 pounds.
Three market sources said the dollar could buy between 6.24 and 6.27 pounds on the black market, hovering around recent levels.
