The Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) on Monday issued a 10-day notice to the government for removing anomaly in taxes between settled and federally-administered tribal area (FATA)/provincially-administered tribal area (Pata).
The PVMA office-bearers told a press conference that ghee mills in settled area were not sustainable due to difference of Rs 13 per kg with units, which operate in Fata/Pata.
They said that ghee mills in settled area were paying taxes of Rs 13,000 more than the industry in Fata/Pata in the form of various taxes, and so were quickly becoming unviable. They offered 10 days to the authorities for talks so that the thorny issue could be settled down amicably.
