President Raja Hamid Riaz and General Secretary Nasir Butt of Mall Road Traders Association have announced their full support to The Founders' candidates in the forthcoming elections of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI).
They also joined Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry, leader of the Opposition in LCCI, former vice-president Munir Ahmad Khan, member executive committee of the LCCI Tanvir Malik during door-to-door election campaign a day earlier, says a press release issued here on Monday.
Candidates for Associate Class, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Rizwan Shamzi, Ahmad Mujtaba Babar and Sajid Aziz Meer were also present on the occasion. They also held meetings with the traders' community of Mclegan Road, Mauj Darya road, Mozang Road and Queens Road.
While addressing the traders' gathering they said the LCCI ruling alliance badly failed in discharging its responsibility up to the traders' expectations. Owing to the lack of interest and capability to tackle the situation on the part of the ruling alliance, the traders' community had to seek relief from courts individually, they added.
They further said that during the Founders' tenure, every minister personally visited the LCCI and attended meetings of the executive committees to receive the first-hand information regarding the problems faced by the businessmen.
This helped a lot in resolving most of the issues but the sitting president of the LCCI could not follow the precedent, set by the Founders, they said.
