Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, on Tuesday at a meeting at Governor House, reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming international defence exhibition and seminar 'Ideas 2004' from September 13 to 17 at Expo Centre, Karachi.
Among others, Secretary, Defence Production, (Retd) Air Marshal Zahid Anis was also present in the meeting.
The governor expressed hope that the exhibition would bring into focus the industries producing defence material. He said that Pakistan's experts had excelled in the art of producing quality equipment with precision on competitive prices.
'Ideas' is Pakistan's foremost and the largest defence industry exhibition which has become an international event. There will be a seminar to discuss innovation and improvement in defence production. More than 70 countries are expected to participate in this event.
The meeting was briefed about the measures which have so far been taken by the City Administration, especially pertaining to facilitation and security of foreign delegates.
Various points with regard to City Administration and its role during the four-day show were brought to the notice of the governor.
The governor issued instructions to give final touches to the arrangements to ensure security.
Prior to the meeting the Defence Production Secretary visited Karachi Expo Centre. DG DEPO Major General Syed Ali Hamid and senior representatives of the organisers received him at the Centre.
General Hamid briefed the Secretary about the arrangement of seminar, exhibition stalls and stay of delegates coming from 70 countries.
The organizers of the exhibition are of the opinion that considering the current geopolitical scenario, 'Ideas' has taken a unique role in highlighting Pakistan's potential for defence ties and trade with the countries in Asia, Middle East and African region, while facilitating the need for enhanced market base for the indigenously manufactured defence products.
