A five-member delegation of Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) led by its Advisor to the President Takao Kawakani called on Federal Minister for Health Mohammad Nasir Khan and discussed the implementation status of Japan Funded programmes in Pakistan here on Wednesday.
The delegation expressed complete satisfaction over the proper utilisation of funds by the Ministry of Health and assured the minister that Japan would continue to provide financial assistance to the government of Pakistan for its funded programmes.
Federal Minister for Health Mohammad Nasir Khan thanked the government of Japan and JICA for its continued support to Pakistan and said that the people and government of Pakistan appreciate the generous assistance being provided by Japan to Pakistan in Health Sector.
The minister expressed the hope that relations between Pakistan and Japan will further improve in health sector with the passage of time.
The delegation disclosed that Japan would enhance its financial support for its funded programme in Pakistan.
It may be mentioned here that Japan provides financial assistance to Pakistan in programme of elimination of Neo-Natal Tenanus, In-Country training Programme "Safe Management of New-Born Infants, T.B Control Programme, Rehabilitation of Children Hospital, Islamabad, In-Country Training Programme on Safe Motherhood, Study on Health Management Information System in Pakistan and for Polio Eradication.
Dr Mohammad Amjad, President, Pakistan Muslim League Federal Capital met the Health Minister Mohammad Nasir Khan and discussed health issues, problems being faced by the poor people living in rural areas of Islamabad.
The minister assured him that he will looked into the problem on priority basis and asked him to submit proposals and prepare a detailed presentation for strengthening the health centres and to provide basic health facilities to poor people especially for maternal health centres.
