A knowledge-based society can steer people from quagmire of unawareness and lead them to path of excellence in every field.
Punjab University vice chancellor Arshad Mahmood stated this while addressing a farewell ceremony arranged for the students of Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes for 2003-05 here on Wednesday.
He urged the students to equip themselves with values described in the Islamic teachings and transmit the education and awareness to masses so to enable them to bring about a positive change in the society.
It is for the first time that the university has revolutionised the curriculum to help a student raise creativity and vision, he added. He further said: "Due to lack of educational research, our students are not fully trained to face new challenges posed by globalisation, and at the university we are trying to bridge this educational gap by incorporating changes in the curriculum with the consultation of all stakeholders."
Speaking on the occasion, CSAS Director Dr Sadiq Gill said the Centre would serve as a premier think-tank institution and M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes would unlock many vistas for the students to recommend tangible diplomacy and conflict management measures for a better and more peaceful future.
