Inquiry report of the fire which broke out in the record room of Lahore High Court will be submitted within a couple of days, said Dost Mohammad Malik, Registrar LHC.
In a briefing to newsmen, he said that a one-man inquiry committee comprising Additional Registrar Shafiq Ansari, has been constituted to probe the matter, and the guilty would be punished.
"We will fix the responsibility after the inquiry," he added.
Replying to a query, he said the smoke detector system did not work as the shifting process from the old building was underway.
Malik said smoking was not allowed in the record room, and observed that fire may have been sparked by the grinder being used by labourers to make new racks for keeping record.
He said at this point he could not confirm which record may have been gutted in the fire, and would need to check all registers.
The blaze was however overcome immediately with the help of portable fire extinguishers, he added.
