Despite the continued dollars' buying by the importers for oil payments, the rupee-dollar parity rates remained inert for the third day in a row in the interbank market at Rs 58.88 and Rs 58.90, dealers said. According to market sources, payments are still in hand but the rupee held its value as banks covered their immediate needs from open market.
In the coming days, the rupee might not show major variation in relation to the dollar, analysts said.
In the world market, the euro maintained its dominance as the dollar failed to show any improvement after fading expectation over the rise in the US interest rates in the near terms, currency experts said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee continued its weakness, shedding five paisa more for buying and selling at Rs 59.60 and Rs 59.65, respectively.
The local currency resisted more slide versus euro for buying and selling at Rs 72.70 and Rs 73.00.
