Under-construction fast attack missile craft 'Quwwat' for Pakistan Navy will be launched on Monday. The launching of this missile craft will be another important landmark of indigenous construction programme and symbolise a quantum leap towards the national policy of self-reliance in meeting the national defence requirements.
The Missile Craft, being constructed at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works, is under transfer of technology contract with Marsun of Thailand. It is a highly sophisticated vessel, intricate in construction and design.
This craft will be fitted with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, including electronic warfare systems and fire control radar and will have a speed of more than 30 knots with a maximum displacement of 250 tons.
The vessel's hull has been made of steel and aluminium alloy superstructure built in a non-conventional manner adopting state-of-the-art methodologies. This craft will be capable of launching surface-to-surface missiles and anti-aircraft attack and will be extremely suitable for shallow water operations.
Construction of such crafts at KSEW under the transfer of technology contract will enhance its share in Naval constructions and contribute largely to the acquisition and development of defence production techniques.
Construction of Fast attack missile craft is truly a proud moment for Karachi. After the launching of this craft the seaward defence of Pakistan will get further strengthened and such indigenous construction and addition of combat platform will considerably help reduce the conventional imbalance between the regional navies.
