Rs 175 million uplift scheme for Sargodha University approved
The government would provide Rs 175 million for development of Sargodha University of Sargodha.
The scheme initiated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) would be implemented within this financial year, HEC announced here on Sunday.
Through the scheme, recently established University of Sargodha would increase the number of existing disciplines being taught at graduate and postgraduate levels by introducing new, dynamic and market-oriented disciplines.
Graduate and postgraduate programmes in these disciplines would be revitalised and enriched with the most modern development and techniques.
In addition, these programmes would be introduced with a clear motive to wipe out unemployment and thus, contributing to the socio-economic growth of the graduates in particular and the country in general.
The major objectives of the scheme also include provision of educational facilities to 1,880 students in the fields of pharmacy, business studies and food technology and job opportunities to 531 professionals, skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled persons.
The university along with its basic functions of teaching and research would also act as "Examining Body" for affiliated colleges.
