State Minister for Housing and Works Sardar Mohammad Asif Nakai has said that the government is taking various steps to provide civic amenities to far-flung areas of the country.
Inaugurating the Sui gas supply project at Pattoki town on Sunday, he said that President General Pervez Musharraf has approved a comprehensive development project for the town on his request, which would also help in eliminating unemployment in the area.
He announced that a technical college would be established in the town. He said that wireless loop phone system was also being installed in the area and applicants would be provided connections soon.
"The government is endeavouring for the development of urban and rural areas, he said, adding, "it is also taking many steps to overcome the problems of unemployment in the country."
He said: "The country is progressing in agriculture and economic sector due to sagacious policies of Pervez Musharraf."
Earlier, a warm welcome was accorded to the state minister on his arrival at Pattoki and Changa Manga for the first time after assuming the office of the state minister.
