A high-level meeting on Sunday at Chief Minister House with Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim in the Chair reviewed the arrangements of international exhibition 'IDEAS 2004' to be held here at Expo Centre from September 13 to 17, 2004.
The Chief Minister directed the officials present to ensure complete security during the exhibition along with maintaining smooth flow of traffic and uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity.
It may be mentioned here that a seminar pertaining to exhibition would be held at Sheraton Hotel on Monday (Today) at 0900 hours, while the exhibition itself would formally be inaugurated at 1700 hours on the same day.
As many as 55 delegations comprising 153 members from 36 countries are participating in the fair. Around 1138 items would be exhibited and 4115 guests from world over would be appearing at the event.
Dr Arbab Rahim said during the high-level meeting that such an exhibition is an honour for Pakistan particularly for Sindh, where the country would be having an opportunity to present its creations before the world.
The meeting was informed that large-scale security plan had been chalked out for the exhibition covering the airport, major hotels and routes leading to the site of the expo.
Sindh IGP Syed Kamal Shah informed the session that police would remain present round the clock at important spots along with personnel in plain clothes deputed throughout the city.
While hidden cameras had also been installed at various places to keep vigilance. Over 6 thousand officers and cops other than rangers and army units had been deputed concerning security arrangements.
The IGP further informed that at least 200 police mobiles and 300 motor bikes would patrol the city during exhibition, besides an emergency plan had been formed to avert any emergency situation under which 4 control rooms had been set up at the Airport, Expo Centre, Sheraton Hotel and PC Hotel.
Provincial Home Minister, Rauf Siddiqui, Chief Secretary, Aslam Sanjrani, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Syed Anwar Haider, CCPO Karachi, Tariq Jamil, DIG Operations Karachi, Fayyaz Leghari, Principal Secretary to CM, Buxal Khan Gudaro and other officers were present at the occasion.
