Money exchange companies have threatened to call a strike if the looted millions of rupees could not be recovered till September 17. A cash delivery van of the companies carrying Rs 16 million was robbed on September 1, 2004. The case was registered with the Preedy police station.
"How can we run our business if the law and order situation is not in our favour. No result of the case registered with the police came out," said Munaf Kalia, general secretary of Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan.
"We will go for the countrywide strike if the robed money could not be recovered," he said, adding, "the strike will be observed from September 17, 2004."
Last month electronic items worth millions of rupees were stolen from the stores near Saddar area and despite all agitation nothing could be recovered.
