Asian Development Bank (ADB) in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) has expedited its efforts to begin SME Development Program in Pakistan.
ADB Financial Sector Specialist Rainer Hartel visited Smeda head offices on Friday along with his Investment Officer M. Ali Mir to streamline Smeda co-ordination in this regard.
According to a Smeda spokesman, a team of SME experts led by Smeda Chief Executive Officer Shahab Khawaja held a meeting with ADB officials on this occasion. Smeda team included Director Special Projects Anjum Ahmad, Policy Planning and Advocacy General Manager Nabeel Goheer, and Manager Special Projects Ahmad Afzal.
Rainer Hartel said he had already met the State Bank Senior Management in Karachi to discuss funding arrangements for SME development programme. "We are busy now to hold meetings with the concerned authorities in Islamabad in order to settle the modalities", he said and assured implementation on ADB programme for SME development in Pakistan would begin very soon.
Earlier, CEO Smeda Shahab Khawaja welcomed the ADB officials and assured them of all possible co-operation on behalf of Smeda for making their SME development programme a success.
