Government of NWFP has asked federal government to provide Rs 35 million for the rehabilitation and improvement in the infrastructure in different industrial estates of the province, said Secretary Commerce and Industries, NWFP Shahrukh Arbab, while talking to Business Recorder on Saturday.
He said that according to the decision of the Ministry of Commerce, the association of the industrial estates concerned have to provide 10 percent, local government 15 percent and the remaining 25 percent cost would be born by the provincial government. Federal government would have to provide the remaining 50 percent.
He said that as both associations and local governments are least interested to pay for their part, the provincial government has demanded of the federal government to provide an amount of Rs 35 million for rehabilitation and improvement in the industrial estates.
He said that the provincial government would provide funds equal to the tune of that provided by the federal government.
Shahrukh Arbab said that the provincial government has launched efforts for the preparation of the industrial and investment policy. For this purpose, he said that the department of industries and commerce has already held a number of meetings with the officials of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
He informed that the government has also reviewed the establishment of the proposed industrial estate in Dargai, Malakand Agency. He said that in this connection meetings have been held to review that what kind of facilities the provincial government could provide to the industrial estate.
He said that the provincial government is also engaged with the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) to sign an agreement for the provision of cheap electricity to the industrial estate.
APCEA POLLS: The annual elections of All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA) has been swept by Founder Group by winning all five seats of the executive committee on Thursday. Those who have been elected members of the executive committee were including Muhammad Asif Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad, Imtiaz Ahmad Ali, Shah Khalid and Hamaad Ahmad.
The polling was started at 9:30 a.m. and remained continue till 4:00 pm.
Muhammad Ali was returning officer, who supervised the election process.
