A three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday adjourned petitions against the franchised policy of the Punjab government regarding transport system in various cities of the province.
The apex court comprising Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Rana Bhagwandas and Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi adjourned the case for 2nd week of the next month on the request of the Assistant Advocate General Punjab, Afshan Ghazanfar Advocate The Assistant Advocate General Punjab made a request before the court that Advocate General Punjab, Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi was unable to appear before the court due to his ailment.
Petitioner Arshad Mehmood filed a petition against government of Punjab through secretary transport regarding route permit policy of the provincial government for Lahore.
Mukhtar Ahmed filed a petition against secretary district regional transport authority Faisalabad for route permits policy of the provincial government.
Zafar Iqbal filed a petition against government of Punjab and challenged its route permit policy being implemented by the provincial government. Javed Akhtar and others have filed petition against province of Punjab for its franchised transport policy.
Premier Transport Company filed a contempt petition against M. Younas.
