Parliamentarians from Fata would shortly visit the troubled south Waziristan Agency and other areas under military combing to eliminate terrorists for convincing tribal leaders to hand over 'miscreants' to bring normalcy in the region.
The government has also assured the elders that aerial strikes would not be resorted during the dialogue process.
This was agreed between the parliamentarians from Federally Administered Tribal Areas and the Governor NWFP, Lieutenant General Iftikhar Hussain Shah (Retd), federal interior minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao during a meeting on Wednesday. Twenty MNAs and Senators were present during the meeting.
The Governor briefed the parliamentarians about the military operation in Fata and assured that they are committed to solve the issue through dialogue.
He assured them that the government wanted a durable solution of the issue without hurting anyone.
Talking to Business Recorder, a tribal MNA Maulana Miraj-ud-Din said that the meeting held in a very cordial atmosphere in which all members from Fata expressed their reservations on military operation especially in Wana and Mehsud tribes area.
Member from Mehsud tribes, Miraj-ud-Din said that the government was asked to take him into confidence before any military operation there.
To a query, he replied that a Jirga (a tribal consultative body) is already working for the registration of foreigners there adding that the government was urged to let this Jirga continue its efforts for registration.
Replying to a question about the Wana situation, he said that the government has agreed to allow all parliamentarians from Fata to visit the troubled area.
"We will meet all tribal leaders and try to convince them on foreigners registration so the issue can be resolved amicably," he added.
Miraj said that MNA Maulana Abdul Malik is likely to visit Wana on Thursday and will meet with the tribal leaders in this regard.
"We have made it clear to the government that ongoing military operation and dialogue process can not go together. The government must have to stop operation," he further said.
He said that the government has agreed to stop military operation in Wana and they are hopeful that the issue would be resolved through peaceful dialogue.
However, he was of the view that the issue can not be resolved in short span of time but the government will have to show flexibility and responsibility.
