A joint delegation of Indian Council of Jurists comprising Supreme Court and High Courts judges (retired), and elected representatives of Indian Bar will leave for Pakistan tomorrow on a week-long goodwill visit.
The delegation, proceeding to Pakistan via Wagah border on the invitation of Pakistan Bar Council, will visit Islamabad and Lahore from September 23 to 28, Indian Council of Jurists Convener Adish C. Aggarwala told newsmen here on Wednesday.
To a question, Aggarwala said the interaction among the people from Judiciary and legal profession would have positive impact on the civil society. That would be the first goodwill visit by the judges and lawyers from India, he maintained adding, it would help foster the process of people to people bonhomie.
He expressed the confidence that such an interaction of legal fraternity in the two countries would also unleash further steam to the current Indo-Pak peace process and dialogue among the top leadership of the two sides.
In response to another query, the Convener pleaded that exchange of knowledge and experience would also help the people of judiciary and legal services of the two countries to reap the benefits for their legal profession.
During the stay, the delegation comprising luminaries of judiciary and legal community is expected to call on Pakistan's Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. They would also meet Pakistan Chief Justice and other Judges of the Supreme Court, Lahore High Court, Punjab Chief Minister and Law Minister.
