The proceedings in a petition challenging disposal of Ittefaq Foundry by the court liquidator could not be held as the learned judge did not sit in the bench.
The petition was filed by one of the members of Ittefaq family Mian Ilyas Meraj challenging its disposal by the court liquidator.
The petitioner contended that the Ittefaq Foundry should be restored or put to auction. He further said cost and evaluation of the property, announced by the liquidator, was based on old prices, hence the matter needed to be examined afresh. He prayed to the court to direct the respondent to reconsider the evaluation of the property.
Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the Pakistan Railways Chairman and Inspector General of Railways Police to submit their comments in a petition wherein it had been alleged porno films were being shown in the dining hall of Shalimar Express.
The petitioner Abdur Rehman, a cook in the railway, approached the court against one of his colleagues Rashid and alleged he had been showing porno films in the dining hall apart from arranging gambling in different parts of the train. He further said despite raising the issue before the high-ups, no action was taken against the respondent.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel, called for a report from Chairman and IG Railways police and rose for the day.
