Pakistan on Thursday handed over the last consignment of thirty trucks to Afghanistan, as part of Pakistan's 100 million dollars assistance for the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
The donation of 200 trucks was announced by former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali during his visit to Kabul in January 2004.
Foreign Secretary Riaz H. Khokhar handed over the vehicles at a simple ceremony held in the Foreign Office to the Afghan Ambassador Dr Nanguyalai Tarzai. The Foreign Secretary in his brief comments said the donation was a goodwill gesture, from the people of Pakistan for their Afghan brethren.
Another consignment of one hundred buses was being procured and would be handed over to the Afghan government shortly.
The Foreign Secretary wished the Afghan government every success with the reconstruction process and the upcoming presidential election. The Afghan Ambassador conveyed thanks and appreciation of the Afghanistan government.
