According to initial reviews, the most hated upcoming movie ‘Ghostbusters’ is actually glorious, funny and exciting, even a slight scary. The movie only stumbles when it loses that sense of fun, and when it tries too hard to prove its love for the old Ghostbusters with too many callbacks.
When the trailer first dropped, the views were overwhelming but so were the dislikes. Reception of the trailer did not even remotely reflect the movie’s comedic potential. The popular opinion about the trailer is that it was very poorly put together trailer that inspires little confidence in the movie being any good. Some of the hate for the movie did not start with the trailer but during the announcement of the remake, and particularly the part of the announcement that revealed the film would have a female-led cast.
According to ScreenCrush, the trailer of the upcoming Ghostbusters remake is one of the most disliked videos uploaded on YouTube ever. About 508,023 dislikes on YouTube at of this writing. It currently has over 28 million views.
This movie’s humor is perfect for the hard crowd, but it was good to see that even when toned down, the express laughs keep coming. Though there are moments when the movie drags, there are others when it kicks into high gear, and the wild card entrance of dimwitted Kevin is one of them. Hemsworth's low-key jokes and physical comedy are a highlight. Director Paul Feig has reversed the ‘hot dumb secretary’ role, often designated for a female, to be a hot guy, foreign media reported.
This new ‘Ghostbusters’ tries to improve and distinguish itself from one of the old Ghostbusters. The movie expresses why, after thousands of years of civilization, this is the particular moment ghosts start appearing. The movie will hit cinemas on July 15, 2016.
