Treasury senators from Balochistan registered their protest over the formation of Parliamentary Committee on Balochistan and said that they were not taken into confidence on the issue.
Treasury Senator Mouhim Khan Baloch boycotted the session on Friday saying Balochistan was actually kept backward and the government was insincere in resolving the problems being faced by the people of the province.
On a point of order, the senator said that the Senate Committee on Balochistan was transformed into Parliamentary Committee, but the senators belonging to the province were totally ignored in the formation of the committee.
The assertions of Mouhim Khan, who was also supported by another treasury member Pari Gul Agha, indicate that a number of government legislators were dissatisfied with the attitude of the government.
"I am chief of party in Balochistan. But neither I nor majority of the senators from the same province were informed about the formation of a new committee on Balochistan," Mouhim said before staging a walkout individually from the session.
The senator did not get back to the House despite attempts of Mushahid Hussain Syed to persuade the senator to return to the House.
He said he was surprised to know that the Senate Committee was renamed as Parliamentary Committee on Balochistan. Former prime minister Shujaat Hussain had announced the formation of the Senate committee and the new committee was formed just to negate the role of Shujaat.
Senator Pari Gul Agha also expressed dissatisfaction over the formation of the new committee. She said that when the committee was to be formed on Balochistan then the government should have consulted the senators of the province.
Leader of the House Wasim Sajjad said that the government was sincerely launching efforts to resolve the problems of the people of Balochistan. We have no mala fide intention, he said. He said that the government was ready to fix special session or one day special to discuss Balochistan situation.
