The Senate on Friday strongly condemned the attempt of Jewish settlers to set ablaze the Al-Aqsa Mosque and demanded of the government to raise the issue on international for a, including the UN and the OIC.
The Upper House unanimously passed a resolution to condemn the scandalous act of Jewish settlers urging the international community to seriously take notice of the incident. Drafted jointly by the treasury and opposition senators, Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) read out the resolution which was unanimously passed just a minute before the Senate was prorogued sin die.
The senator said the act of Jews had sent alarming signals to the Muslim world. Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest place for the Muslims.
The attempt of the Jewish settlers to sacrilege the holy place is an insult to the Muslim world, he said. Leader of the House Wasim Sajjad welcomed the resolution and said that the passage of the resolution from the two houses of the Parliament clearly indicated that the Pakistani nation was really disturbed with the act of the Jews, who were, according to some reports, supported by the Israeli police.
