BHP Billition Petroleum Pakistan's General Manager Philip Byrne has said that his company is committed to improve the socio-economic condition of the people of its operational fields, particularly located in far flung areas of district Dadu.
He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of newly constructed Public Park namely Makhdoom Bilawal at Johi town on Thursday, which was financed through the community development programme of the BHP at an estimated cost of Rs 1.8 million.
Newly designated Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Zorica McCarthy also attended the ceremony, while former member of National Assembly Sardar Mohammad Bakhsh Jamali was the chief guest on the occasion.
Philip Byrne said his organisation had also focused on providing quality education and better medical cover to people of the area. In addition to that, a contiguity plan would be prepared with a view to providing drinking water to the inhabitants of the area, he added.
Australian High Commissioner Zorica McCarthy lauded the co-operation of local people with the organisation to achieve sustainable development in the area of operations.
Former MNA Sardar Mohammad Bakhsh Jamali, speaking as the chief guest, appreciated the work of the BHP Company, which, he said, had made a commendable contribution to promoting the living standard of the people.
