Pakistani-origin British businessmen have a strong desire to do business with Pakistan, said Director, International Trade, Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Michael Brosch.
While speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) here on Friday, Michael Brosch said that the British business community was keen to invest in Pakistan where investment policies and business environment have improved during the last two years.
He said that this delegation was the first of the five that would visit Pakistan over the next year, while the second mission is due next month. He said that this shows the interest that UK businessmen have in Pakistan.
He said there is a strong desire from Pakistani-origin community to do business and invest in Pakistan, as there exists a lot of opportunities compared to UK where economy was strong but gives little return.
There had been a lot of British investment in China but now the investors are looking for other avenues.
Michael Brosch said that his chamber mostly represents small and medium enterprises and has membership from all the communities settled in UK. He also suggested that Pakistani businessmen should visit Britain to win European markets and introduce their products.
He said that Anglo-Pakistan community is keen to grab investment opportunities in Pakistan, which has large scope for development and progress in coming years. "Both the countries have a two-way trade of around one billion pound sterling and yet there was a lot of scope to enhance it", he said.
He stressed the need that Pakistani businessmen should improve packaging and presentation techniques to get higher prices of their products. He urged the LCCI to have a close liaison with his chamber to answer the queries of English businessmen regarding business opportunities in Pakistan.
The LCCI President, Mian Anjum Nisar, has said that there exists enormous opportunities for Anglo-Pakistan community to invest in Pakistan and reap the fruit of business-friendly atmosphere available here.
He also invited the British investors to come forward and explore the business opportunities being offered by the present government.
Addressing the participants President-elect Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman said that Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry would facilitate the Anglo-Pakistan community if they make investment in Pakistan.
He said that Lahore chamber would send a trade delegation to Britain in coming months to enhance interaction between the two countries.
Senior Vice-president-elect Sohail Lashari in his address urged the British investors to come to Pakistan to explore the business opportunities here.
