Pakistan Society of Sugar Technologists (PSST) is holding its 39th annual convention at a local hotel from September 27 to 29.
Shafaat Zaidi, President PSST told Business Recorder here on Friday that the convention will be attended by a large number of sugar experts and sugar technologists from a number of countries including UK, India and the European Countries.
The election of the new president of PSST for next two-year term will also be held on this occasion. Muhammad Mian Soomro acting President of Pakistan will be the chief guest at inaugural session of the convention.
During the event, experts will deliberate problems being faced by the sugar industry including decline in sugarcane recovery, impact of effective maintenance management in milling performance, genetic improvement in Samaclones of sugarcane, future prospects of alcohol industry in Pakistan and technical losses of sugar industry etc.
According to Shafaat Zaidi, the event will help a lot in sharing latest sugar research done by sugar technologists of different countries. He said that research is essential for developing high-yield varieties.
