Punjab government has chalked out a comprehensive plan to develop Fort Monro as tourism spot in the province, while there was no plan under consideration to install a chair lift at Saggian Bridge near Lahore.
Punjab Tourism Minister, Mian Aslam Iqbal, stated this during question-answer session in Punjab Assembly on Friday.
Punjab Assembly that commenced its session with Sardar Shaukat Hussain Mazari in chair dealt on questions regarding tourism and co-operatives during its Friday session.
Answering a query by MPA Anjum Sultana, Aslam Iqbal said that tourism department intended to renovate certain temples in Depalpur in district Okara as well as a powerhouse inaugurated by Sir Malcolm Hailey at Lower Bari Dowab.
He hoped that with renovation of these projects, tourism would flourish in the area.
Responding to a question by MPA Ajasim Sharif, the minister averred that agriculture department or horticulture department did not pay any revenue for holding spring festival at Bagh-e-Jinnah during the year 2003.
Parliamentary Secretary Co-operatives Department Sardar Darya Khan replying to a question by MPA Muhammad Waqas stated that defunct co-operative corporations still owed more than Rs eight billion to people in general.
These co-operative societies owed more than Rs 13 billion at the time its scandal appeared.
On a query he dilated that with complete payment of Rs 2.98 billion to 170,178 victims and partial payment of Rs 2.12 billion to 35,338 victims, Rs 1.45 billion amount has been paid under consortium loan to banks.
Parliamentary secretary speaking further on co-operative scandal in the House disclosed that during investigation it surfaced that 14 corporations failed to possess any assets.
He stated that matters relating to a number of corporations were under investigation by NAB Punjab Co-operative Wing.
Answering a question by MPA Samina Navid, he told the House that a total of 266,605 persons were affected in co-operative finance corporations scam at the time of its eruption.
To another question he also submitted information regarding certain housing societies in the House.
The House also entertained an adjournment motion regarding prescription limit of construction height in Shah Alam Market Lahore. Mushtaq Kayani Punjab Minister replying on this said that 70 feet was the maximum limit regarding construction of building in the area.
A privilege motion by MPA Javed Siddiqui was disposed off on the day. The House was adjourned to meet again on Monday.
