The ruling Pakistan Muslim League has taken serious notice of the deliberate skipping of National Assembly's first session by treasury members after Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz assumed the office.
Owing to dozens of the ruling party members' absence from the proceedings, the government had to face embarrassment on a number of occasions during the session prorogued on Friday.
"Though it appears to be a temporary phase, but the party has taken serious notice of it and action can be taken against those staying away from the session without any reason," remarked PML Information Secretary Tariq Azeem.
He told Business Recorder that it was out of the question that all members should be accommodated in the Cabinet. Whosoever was given representation in the Cabinet fulfilled certain criteria laid down by the top leadership.
He said that the situation would not have been so if some ministers and parliamentary secretaries who are part of President's entourage to New York had been around.
There is a long list of aspirants of ministerial slots, which includes Kashmala Tariq, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mehnaz Rafi, Bilal Ejaz and Ahmed Alam Anwar.
Bilal and Anwar were daring enough not to be part of the voting held on Thursday on the admissibility of an adjournment motion by opposition.
After the session was prorogued sine die, some senior ruling party members were overheard lamenting that they had been left out and young and inexperienced MNAs were made ministers.
Senator Tariq did not rule out PML President Shujaat Hussain's meeting with the 'angry' MNAs shortly to take up the issue of their absence and lack of interest in the House business. PML chief and other party members and ministers attended the death anniversary of Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi.
