Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) President and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad on Monday said that President Pervez Musharraf would not be able to keep his office as the army chief after the expiry of December 31 deadline.
Briefing newsmen about the upcoming JI annual congregation at Azakhel Park, Nowshera district, some 30-km east from here, Qazi warned that in December a massive Movement would be launched to force President General Pervez Musharraf to doff his uniform.
To a question regarding the retirement of army generals in a large scale in November, the MMA chief said President Musharraf was using cheap tactics to strengthen his position, but by doing so his position would be further weakened.
Regarding the preparations of the congregation, he said that 90 percent of the arrangements have been completed, and in a day or two a complete city would be set up where absolute arrangements for accommodation of hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children would be made.
Qazi said two special sessions would be arranged in the three-day congregation - one national and another international, adding in the national session, all top MMA leaders and leaders from other political parties would deliver speeches, while in the international session, prominent leaders would address the gathering.
He said Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani, Hamas leader Khalid Masha'al, and great Muslim scholar Yousaf Al-Qarzawi would deliver their speeches via telephone.
Qazi said that Muslims from across the world would participate in the congregation, adding: "A big delegation from India under the leadership of Dr Abdul Haq Ansari and various delegations from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Syria, Indonesia, Malaysia, Yemen, Turkey, USA, Iran, and many European countries would attend the congregation."
He also said in many countries, including Morocco, Al-Jazzier, and Bosnia, the aspiring participant of the programme had been denied visas.
He said the leaders of all the political parties both in the government and opposition, including President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had been formally invited to the programme.
"President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz cannot come to the programme because of their security reason, while the wife of the latter has promised to attend the congregation," he said.
The MMA chief also informed that at least 70,000 women would attend the programme for whom safe and separate arrangements have been made. "We want to restore the prestigious and honourable position of the women, who have as much rights as men have," he remarked.
Regarding the aim of the congregation, the Qazi said: "Through this mammoth gathering we want to present our case before Allah Almighty and humanity, adding: "The Muslims are subjected to terrorism across the world, and are also labelled as terrorists. We will inform the international community that we want peace in the world. It is the USA and its allies, who have destroyed world peace in the name of war on terror."
