Justice Sheikh Abdul Rashid of Lahore High Court (LHC), while hearing a contempt plea, issued warrants for arrest of Editor, 'The News', Saleem Bokhari, and its reporter Rizwan-ur-Rehman Razi, while fresh notices asking for personal appearance were issued for Mir Shakilur Rehman, Editor-in-Chief, Jang Group of Publications, for October 12.
Justice Rashid issued these orders on a contempt plea against misreporting regarding publication of a news item wherein it was said that the Court had required personal appearance of Lahore Corps Commander, General Zarar Azeem, in a contempt plea against him and others.
The Court felt displeased over this publication and it started contempt proceedings by issuing notices and summoning for Mir Rehman, Saleem Bokhari and Rizwan-ur-Rehman Razi, Court Reporter of 'The News'.
Both Bokhari and Razi had been attending Court proceedings ever since, while Shakilur Rehman did not come on a single hearing, to ensure whose presence, the Court on September 15 had issued orders to SSP, Lahore, for September 27.
However, on Monday none of the respondents turned up in the Court, after which arrest warrants and notices were re-issued.
