Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday directed the Economic Affairs Division to play a leading role securing economic assistance, increasing investment and trade. Shaukat Aziz was reviewing the goals and targets of the division at a meeting held at the Prime Ministers House.
The Prime Minister said EAD should assist other ministries to achieve their goals through improved and proactive liaison with joint economic commissions.
He said the division should negotiate with donors and speed up procurement of funds.
Shaukat Aziz said the economic affairs ministry should be proactive in mobilising the donors and interact with them through the embassies and also ensure prompt utilisation of funds for the projects in Pakistan.
Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Ms Hina Rabbani Khar, Secretary Economic Affairs Division and Dr Waqar Masood were also present on the occasion.
