London's cocoa market was reluctant to break into new territory on Friday as prices continued to drift a few pounds either side of unchanged in its familiar narrow band.
Traders said light industry buying kept up support but an overall reluctance to sell in great volumes at current levels kept the market afloat.
Liffe December closed flat at 835 pounds a tonne after moving 1,786 lots between 844 and 828 out of a total turnover of 3,545 lots.
"It's been fairly steady today. I think we were due a bounce but it hasn't really happened. We've been trading around these levels for some time and it seems to be just about holding up," a trader said.
