VimpelCom, the parent group of Mobilink and Warid will invest one billion dollars in Pakistan over the next five years.
According to local media reports, the following investment will be made on infrastructure development and introduction of new services, whereas, creating 5000 jobs after the completion of Mobilink-Warid merger.
“Mobilink and Warid will benefit from VimpelCom’s $1 billion investment in building one of the largest and most ambitious IT infrastructures in the industry” said Jean-Yves Charlier, Chief Executive Officer, VimpelCom during a media briefing in Islamabad.
“We are going to make major investments in network, IT systems, infrastructure and in new services for customers during next five years with an ambition to build the best network with the widest coverage and the most advanced 3G and 4G LTE services in the country”, added CEO VimpelCom.
CEO of Mobilink, Aamir Ibrahim announced to invest $300 million in next one year. “We will be investing over 300 million dollars in next one year alone”, said Ibrahim.
Reports further informed, that when asked about the brand name of the merged company, CEO VimpleCom informed that it has not been decided yet.
