After a long wait finally a wrestler with Pakistani background, Mustafa Ali is set to compete in WWE.
Last year, another Pakistani wrestler Badshah Pehalwan Khan made headlines by applying for WWE Tough Enough, a reality TV competition to earn a WWE contract, but he failed to enter the biggest wrestling arena.
Ali is part of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament, which will be aired exclusively on the WWE Network. Born in Chicago, Ali has been in the ring for 13 years now.
While giving a brief interview to a local media outlet, he said, “I knew I wanted to be a wrestler ever since I was young.” Idolizing Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart while growing up, Ali added Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Hardy Boyz, Chris Jericho, and Hayabusa to his list of favorites.
“To wrestle for WWE is such a huge deal to me. It’s what I grew up on. It’s what I chased for 13 years. It’s what I have broken bones for. It’s what I have missed birthdays for. To be able to live that moment of standing in a WWE ring is. I don’t know how to describe it,” he added.
Mustafa’s weight is 180 lbs, height 5ft 10 inches. His style is technical, high flying. He is an experienced fighter, with over a decade of experience behind him.
The WWE wrote the following introduction about him on their official website, ‘A veteran of the cruiserweight wars, Mustafa Ali will aim to bring his years of experience to Full Sail University in pursuit of the Cruiserweight Classic crown’.
Though, expectations are low for Ali, because not much is known about him on the main circuit, with his background mainly being on smaller shows. Still, he will be the first one to represent Pakistan on WWE platform.
