District government has started their movement to realise the dream of a 'Parrha likha (educated) Punjab', with a huge allocation of Rs 43 billion to be spent on the education sector" in the province.
This was stated by District Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmed while talking to newsmen. He said literacy and education were this government's foremost priorities, while over Rs 236 million had been spent in district Kasur alone in the last three years in education sector.
More teachers were being appointed and provided training to ensure quality education to the country's youth, he said.
Reforms and expansion were continuing at a fast pace in the education sector, with establishing more literacy centres and upgradating schools and colleges being ensured throughout the district, he added.
Citing a case in point, he said, Masters classes were started in the Government Islamia Degree College while further expansion planned for this institution would entail an expense of Rs 27 million.
The DN said government machinery was functioning satisfactorily to attain the goal of hundred percent literacy in the country by the year 2015.
