A fact finding mission from Asian Development Bank (ADB) called on Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Environment and Alternate Energy Noman Saigal here on Wednesday.
The mission comprised of Senior Rural Development Specialist Agriculture, Environment Donncth A. Walton and Natural Resource Management Specialist Agriculture, Environment Vidhisha N Samaraskara.
They discussed the preliminaries of fact finding on the proposed "Sindh Coastal and Inland Community Development Project."
Giving background of the proposed assistance, the delegation apprised the Advisor that proposed projects may focus on fishing-related activities and laying of coastal development project to achieve poverty reduction in the area.
For this purpose, the delegation said three districts of Karachi, Thatta and Badin, which have strong linkages with the relevant assistance, have been selected.
Focusing on the problems being faced in the area, the Advisor outlined the need for sustainable approach while formulating schemes for both coastal and inland regions which may help in reducing the poverty by providing opportunity to local population to boost their economy.
Noman Saigal said the role of Environment & Alternate Energy Department may be highlighted in the proposed projects by addressing environmental issues.
The Provincial Secretary Environment & Alternate Energy Shams-ul-Hague Memon and Director General SEPA Shafique Ahmed Khoso also participated in the deliberation.
