Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has constituted 20 'dispute resolution committees' to examine the cases of refunds with representation from different chambers, trade bodies and collectorates throughout the country.
According to CBR order, these committees comprising three-member each will examine the refunds cases in different categories like Hosiery and Knitwear Exporters, Chemicals and Dyes Merchants, Cloth Exporters, Leather Garments Exporters, Commercial Exporters, Towel Manufacturers and others.
Irfan Qaisar and Sheikh Muhammad Asif, nominees of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) have been appointed heads of the committees dealing with the cases relating to Readymade Garments Exporters and All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma), respectively.
These committees are also for different regions such as Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Gujranwala, Peshawar and Multan.
The working of each Committee shall be regulated by the procedures prescribed under section 47-A of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and Chapter-X of the Sales Tax Rules, 2004 (SRO 485(I)/2004 dated June 12, 2004) and submit their recommendations to the Board within 30 days of such reference.
