Soft red winter (SRW) wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were higher early on Friday on follow-through from the firm close on Thursday, traders said.
At 10:24 am CDT (1524 GMT), CBOT wheat was up 1-1/2 to 3-3/4 cents per bushel, with December up 4 at $3.06-3/4 per bushel.
FIMAT and Rand each bought 200 December and CIS bought 100 March. Pit sources said wheat futures were getting a bit of a boost late this week after the US Department of Agriculture early Thursday reported a weekly US wheat export sales number that was bigger than traders expected.
Technical signals show the market is nearly oversold, with the nine-day relative strength index for December closing Thursday at 32.
Support in the December contract was at $2.97-1/2 per bushel and resistance was at $3.06-1/2.
