Chilean stocks fell on Friday for the fourth day in a row dragged down by telecommunications firms and by energy generator Endesa, which fell after a rival filed a $26 million complaint against it.
The IPSA blue-chip index fell 0.77 percent to 1,703.44 points, accumulating a fall of 1.6 percent this week, while the broader IGPA index dropped 0.49 percent at 8,606.93, according to preliminary closing figures.
South American power company Endesa Chile fell 1.24 percent to 318.99 pesos per share after rival AES Gener filed a complaint accusing Endesa of not paying a $26 million debt. Endesa disputes the figure.
Chile's biggest mobile phone company Entel declined 3.55 percent to 4,620.00 pesos per share. It was the second day of decline for the company that earlier this week was buoyed on rumours - it denied - of a merger with a company owned by Mexico telecommunications magnate Carlos Slim.
