Addressing a news conference here on Sunday, he said that a comprehensive 'Ramazan Package' has been prepared by the city government to ensure availability of essential items at 'Sasta bazaars' and 'Sunday bazaars' at cheaper rates.

He said that the government would make available 0.9 million bags of atta at these bazaars, and a bag, which is currently available in the market at Rs 240-245, would be sold at Rs 190 to the customers. Similarly, sugar would be sold at Rs 19 per kg, he added.
On this occasion, Chairman Vanaspati Ghee Manufacturers Association and representatives of commodity markets announced to voluntarily curtail the prices of vegetable ghee and other items to supplement government efforts to facilitate the people during the holy month of Ramazan.
Chairman Vanaspati Ghee Manufactures Association announced that during Ramzan, ghee would be supplied to the public at Rs 56 per kg.
Poultry Association pledged to cut the price of chicken by Rs 4 per kg and eggs Rs 5 per dozen.
The representatives of Tapal tea announced to reduce the price by Rs 5-10 per pack, and Halla Milk announced to curtail the price by Rs 4 per pack.
Aamir said that a meeting of representatives of traders and shopkeepers would be held with DCO on October 13 to finalise the price formula.
The nazim also announced that the city district government has formed monitoring teams to check the prices of essentials during Ramazan.
He, however, assured the traders present on the occasion that government officials would not harass them, but those found involved in hoarding and profiteering would not be spared.
