South Korea's state-owned Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO) is considering investing in the construction of a 350 million dollar steam power plant in Indonesia, a top official said Sunday.
Eddie Widiono, the president of Indonesia's state electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), said KEPCO had expressed an interest in building the plant near a planned PLN liquefied natural gas terminal in Cilegon, Banten province.
"The wishes of KEPCO to build the gas-fuelled steam power plant in Cilegon is based on the certainty in gas supply from the LNG terminal," Widiono said after a ceremony to mark national electricity dayat his office.
The power plant will have a capacity of 740 MegaWatts and is expected to operate in 2009.
