The Lahore High Court (LHC) while restraining FM-103 radio from broadcasting its Urdu service, has directed Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) not to cancel the licence of the petitioner radio.
The petitioner radio approached the court against Pemra with prayer to the court to declare the action of the respondent as illegal and without lawful authority. It was contended that the petitioner was broadcasting its Urdu service in accordance with the law but the respondent Pemra issued notice for cancellation of licence. It was prayed to the court to restrain the respondent from taking any action against the petitioner.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, restrained the petitioner radio from broadcasting its Urdu service, and directed the respondent Pemra not to cancel the petitioner licence till further orders.
