Sugar mill workers stage demonstration

The employees of the Thatta Sugar Mill (TSM) held a rally and staged a demonstration on the National Highway near the Thatta Press Club on Wednesday.
Demonstrators blocked the traffic for about an hour to protest over closure of their mill and non-payment of their dues.
Participants marched from Bikak Hotel and raised slogans to press for acceptance of their demands.
Speakers, including Syed Asadullah Shah, Ibrahim Kumbar, Haneef Thaheem, Javed Ghani, Mansoor Zaidi, and Saleem Qureshi said the Mill is closed for the last more than six years, and their families are faced with grave difficulties.
They called for payment of their outstanding salaries and dues before Eid-ul-Ftr.
