As a result of liberal media policy of the present government the adverting business will grow by 100 percent in next two years. S.H. Hashmi of Orient Advertising stated this at the award distribution ceremony of Pakistan Advertising Association (PAA) here on Thursday.
The ceremony was scheduled to be presided over by Information and Broadcasting Minister Sheikh Rashid, but he could not turned up due to his busy schedule in Islamabad. Hashmi said that Pakistan's advertising skills and capabilities had been acknowledged at the world level.
He said that with the advent of modern communication gadgets advertising today had made tremendous progress. New companies and investment is making debut in the country and new television and radio channels are coming up.
This would lead to a tremendous growth in the industry, he said, adding that the industry would grow by 50 percent next year and its growth would be doubled in next two years.
Hashmi advised his fellow advertisers to always remember pioneers of the industry who worked in difficult environment without having the benefit of today's modern technology.
He said that dignified communities never forget their pioneers and, therefore, it has been decided to write history of advertising in the form of a book by mentioning all those who spent their lives in building the industry.
He urged the advertisers to enter into the filed of public relations and prepare publicity material required to promote solidarity in the country and reform the society.
He advised the media not to play up news about crimes and terrorism, which cause a negative impact on the foreigners preventing them from visiting Pakistan.
Earlier, PAA Chairman Mukhtar Ahmed Azmi welcomed the guests and congratulated the winners of the award for their spectacular performance.
Later, awards were distributed among the winners. In all 25 awards were given in the Pioneer Category for completing 25 years in the industry, 30 in Silver Category for completing 35 years and 38 in Gold Category for spending over 35 years in the industry.
