A World Bank delegation led by Country Director John W. Wall called on Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon here on Wednesday, and discussed with him matter pertaining to World Bank's co-operation in the petroleum sector.
The minister appreciated the World Bank's co-operation for the promotion of the oil and gas sector in Pakistan, and hoped it would continue to support the government efforts for the speedy development of these vital fields of economy.
Amanullah Jadoon said the government was making concerted efforts for the promotion and expansion of the oil & gas, and mineral sector on modern lines aimed at putting the country on the road to self-sufficiency.
He said as a result of deregulation and restructuring policies, the petroleum sector witnessed an unprecedented development for the last five years, adding this process would continue to boost the petroleum industry in Pakistan.
The minister said the country is endowed with vast mineral resources, and invited the World Bank's assistance for the exploration of the untapped resources for progress of the country.
He also invited the World Bank to participate in the trans-border gas pipeline project.
John Wall appreciated tremendous development of Pak petroleum sector during the last few years, and assured all out co-operation in this regard.
