Federal Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Justice Abdul Razzaq Thaheem (Retd) has asked the officers of nation building departments to complete all the ongoing development schemes within stipulated time so that the people could enjoy the benefits of these schemes at the earliest.
The minister issued these directives while reviewing the development schemes at circuit house here on Friday afternoon.
These development schemes have been executed by Hyderabad Electric Supply Co (Hesco), Pakistan Works Department and Sui Southern Gas Co Ltd (SSGC) under different development programmes including Tameer-e-Pakistan Programme and Khushal Pakistan Programme in various parts of Sindh province.
The minister said that the government has already released the required funds for completion of these development schemes and now desired that the same must be completed within scheduled time in order to improve the living standard of common people.
Justice Thaheem (Retd) expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in completion of development projects of SSGC and asked the authorities concerned to complete all development schemes at the earliest.
He made it clear that the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is taking keen interest for rapid development particularly in the remote areas of the country. Any negligence in this respect would not be tolerated and strict action would be recommended against those, who failed to complete the development projects within scheduled time, he said.
The Project Director, Construction Hesco Guffar Anjum while briefing the minister about village electrification programme informed the minister that during the years 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, Hesco received 2,166 schemes under different development programmes, of which 1,578 villages have been energised while work is being carried out at fast pace for completion of the remaining schemes.
The General Manager, District, SSGC Shaukat Hussain Baloch informed the minister that out of 87 development schemes which received under different development programmes for Sindh province, 17 have been completed while ten other schemes will be completed by the end of December 2004.
The remaining ongoing schemes will also be completed by June 2005, he said.
The Executive Engineer Pakistan Works Department, Suresh Mal Dodani informed the minister that out of 161 development schemes, received during the years 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, the work on 64 development schemes has been completed, seven are in tendering stage while remaining schemes will be completed by the end of December 2004.
The District Co-ordination Officer, Hyderabad Mohammad Hussain Syed also briefed the minister about the development projects being executed under different development programmes in various parts of Hyderabad district.
