Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sikandar Hayat Bosan, while answering a question raised by MNA Yasmeen Rehman, informed the National Assembly on Monday that during 2003-04, wheat production was 19.427 million tons while its consumption was 19.471 million tons.
The Assembly was also informed that a sum of Rs 10.999 million was spent on repair and maintenance of requisite equipment of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) during 2003-04.
Health Minister Muhammad Nasir Khan stated this in a written reply to question raised by MNA Rana Asif Tauseef.
Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao informed the House that charges on National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis has been reduced to $15 from $25 after cabinet decision and its validity has also been increased up to 10 years. Previously, the card was valid for only three years.
Sherpao on a question raised by MNA Inayat Begum said that the Pakistan Tobacco Company has constructed the model installed at the Parliament's gate at a cost of Rs 8 million and the entire expense was bore by the company.
He also told that an amount of Rs3,673,920 was being spent on rent for buildings occupied by the passport offices in the country during 2003-04.
The minister to another question raised by MNA Bushra Rehman said that the total staff strength of the Parliament Lodges is 79 and annual expenditure incurred on it is Rs 5.204 million during 2003-04.
He further informed that the arms licence fee has been increased to Rs2,500 in order to bring it at par with provincial governments.
He said the CDA has spent Rs 1.6 million on the development of football ground at I-8 Islamabad and the project will be completed by December 31, 2004.
He informed that 540 persons were arrested by the Islamabad police after 210 written complaints were lodged with the CDA on unauthorised construction of houses in rural areas of Islamabad.
On a question raised by Maulana Ahmed Ghafoor Ghawas, Minister for Social Welfare Zobaida Jalal informed the House that beneficiaries of district Dir (lower) have been provided a financial assistance of Rs 1,124,380.
