Mian Sharif, father of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former chief minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, passed away here, on Friday. He, along with his sons and other family members, was exiled to Saudi Arabia about three and a half years back after Nawaz Sharif government was overthrown in a bloodless coup in October 1999. It is uncertain whether he would be buried in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia.
President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have expressed their condolences to the Sharif family on the demise of Mian Muhammad Sharif.
They prayed that the Allah Almighty may grant eternal peace to the departed soul and fortitude to the bereaved family.
