Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that his government's top most priority is a clean and honest administration.
The Chief Minister, who was on a two-day tour of Sukkur and Khairpur districts, was addressing a press conference prior to his departure for Karachi at Sukkur airport on Friday evening.
He said his only consideration was merit and honesty, adding wherever he would find a good and honest officer, he would depute him for serving in the Sindh.
Arbab said that ever since he had assumed the charge as Sindh Chief Minister, the graph of corruption and crime in Sindh had considerably come down.
There was no proposal on the cards for changing the Chief Secretary and IG Police Sindh, Arbab said and dispelled reports to that effect in a section of the press as kite flying.
There was no need to change Sindh Chief Secretary, as he was appointed only three months ago, he added.
The Chief Minister said a massive anti-dacoits operation was launched in Shah Belo Forest about four months back, which he observed, had yielded positive results.
Dozens of dacoits and kidnappers were either killed or arrested not only in the forests of Shah Belo but also in the adjoining areas of Sukkur, Shikarpur and Larkana districts, he added.
Arbab referred to the recovery of Santosh Kumar in Larkana killing of a notorious dacoit Omer Jatoi responsible for killing and recoveries of several other hostages, which he observed, had raised the morale of the police force.
The Chief Minister said that zero crime rate was achieved in the jurisdiction of Feroz Abad Police Station of Karachi due to the co-ordinated efforts of police and the area commonality.
He said the Sindh government was considering initiating 'Punchayat system' so that community and tribal disputes in the rural areas were resolved quickly. He defended the conciliation of tribal disputes through Punchayat Committees.
